Well, after an exhausting but awesome two and a half year run with Bobby Rush, My energy was toasted from so many road trips and I just needed to de-commercialize myself musically speaking... Don’t be mistaken though, Bobby Rush is a true Brother of mine and in my view and millions of others, really one of the best and really hardest working entertainers in the world and there is still more recording ventures ahead for Bobby Rush and I.

So, I left the road for a year, took all my Acid Pro 5, Sound forge 8 and Vegas Software from Sony media and entered into a Brand New Partnership between renegade Entrepreneur /Marketing Genius; Gerald Griffith along with Ann Peebles, Don Bryant and Computer Wizard Tim Laughlin calling the partnership Primacy Studios. From that partnership, I was able to just let the musical reins lose and when I did, Man all these sonic landscapes just started pouring out. If there is a thing as a Musical G. Spot well I got one and it was found and the two of the first pieces of music came to life and have just been mastered.

The first tune is a Latin/Jazz Fusion tune instrumental called Subway Echoes featuring Original Shaft Wah Wah Originator Charles “Skipp” Pitts on guitar with a Wicked Guitar Solo by Ann’s guitarist Harold Smith. The cut also feature two other brilliant Solos by FreeWorld’s Steve Dolan on Trumpet and Kirk Smothers on Sax. The other record is a song that Stacy Michelle and I wrote for Ann Peebles titled; Chase These Blues Away which will be released commercially in the very near future.

You should be hearing Subway Echoes on the Weather Channel already but they’re both on there way to up-coming film soundtracks which I’ll update you on once I have something concrete. I can tell you this, that with through this partnership, you can expect a whole new wave of break-through recording ventures in the very near future which brings us up to where I’m at now.

Four months ago I started cultivating this idea of a very special, very unique Tour for Ann Peebles in. I would call this The Ann Peebles Acoustic Soul Tour and it would be arranged and put together in a way no audience or critic has ever had the chance to experience Ann Peebles.

The first thing first thing I absolutely had to do before anything else was to check Ann and myself into Physical re-hab if you will and de-tox ourselves from four years of too many hours of sitting behind a recording consoles, too many Big N Tasty’s and way too much coffee and soft drinks. (Even if they were diet) and we started working out together five-six days a week for the first three months. I went from right at 190 lbs down to 148 lbs...

Ann and I maxed the inclines on the treadmills and burnt so many calories at warped speed developed a slogan “Jack em up N Burn em off” so you can imagine if I came down that much, what Ann came down from… Tell you what; she and I both went from 27% Body fat down to 13%... I put Ann on the same machines Hale Berry used to train for Cat-Woman…

So while I was putting us through all that I began putting together The Acoustic Soul Tour starting with my Dream Rhythm Section of four Brilliant players” comprised of Pete Mendillo on Drums, Harold Smith on guitars, Randy Middleton on Bass and this super bad woman named Hope Clayburn on Woodwinds, Vocals & Percussion and I dubbed the Band fitting enough; “The Dream Team”.

Label’s Hi records USA & UK and their CA Distributors @ Super D Phantom then got involved along with labels EMI/Capital & The right Stuff and Amazon who all helped me execute an incredibly powerful and strategic Marketing campaign along with Cort USA and Curbow Sting Instruments who outfitted the entire band with a brilliant array of their custom Acoustic/Classical Electric Guitars and Basses joined by Ultimate Support, Samson Wireless, Behringer, D’Addario, and Sony Media.

The next step then was getting Ann Peebles out in the Studio with me to start re-working arrangements on a more Acoustic and beautifully intimate level – Custom Tailored to wrap around Ann’s soulful Voice like a warm blanket on over forty incredible Ann Peebles Classics – many of which would be the first time the world would ever hear them live since Ann recorded them back in the Hi Records days from ’69-79. Something in that totally inspired her to reach even further back into her Soul and pull out the most breath-taking vocal phrasings and tones I believe I’ve ever heard from her live in the twelve years we’ve been together.

Next came complements of Hi records USA - a Web Team out of Memphis called Creative Commerce Concepts who just designed, launched and Mass Marketed a Stunning Website for the tour: behold… www.acousticsoultour.com We then hired a 2^nd team of brilliant Graphic artists at Graffiti Graphics who just brilliantly designed Ann Peebles’ first ever Official Collectors Edition Acoustic Soul Tour posters…

Finally was adding our newest addition to the Acoustic Soul Tour Team Bruce Solar and Donovan Hebard at The Agency Group who will now be handling all of Ann Peebles in-states bookings exclusively with Walter Laurer @ GLP stll at the helm of all the Overseas Markets.

Yes people, I can say now that I have the most incredible team behind this Tour.

The Tour Kicks off in April in the UK starting with Ann performing as a special guest with the Legendary Hi Rhythm Section at the Barbican performing Arts centre in London.

Thus far, the in-states tour launches on May 22^nd which may change to a sooner date with all the marketing taking hold ahead of schedule. Imagine that, “Ahead of Schedule” never happens in this business… Please check back or visit Pollstar for a complete tour-dates listing

There will be a Very Special and Monumental Premier of the first Acoustic Soul Tour Concert that we’re putting together at the end of March. All details are kept under wraps until the end February but it will be an event for the history books I assure you so keep checking back.

Again everyone, I do apologize for waiting so long on getting this update out to you. It just seems that as soon as on thing is finished another starts and before you realize it, two years has flown by.
