Harold Smith
Meet Harold Smith.
(Guitarist for Ann Peebles and A-440)
Two words; "Guitar hero" Harold had just finished up an album on Stefanie Bolton entitled "Stefanie" when we met. We were just starting our '96 tour with Ann Peebles and by the third concert Harold had taken all the arrangements, and using 25 years worth of influences and expierence from playing with Al Green, Ramsey Lewis, Wendy Moten, Sam Cooke and Jerry Butler, he truly turned them all into his own, revitalizing the vibe's and history of Guitar legend Teenie Hodges original parts on classics like "I Can't Stand The Rain" and "Tear Your Playhouse Down", That was and still is Harold's unmistakable signature. Harold worked with me on the last record I produced for the Gospel group Victory= (Bold/Italics) as well as the one I'm finishing with Don Bryant titled; It's All In The Word. Watch for a new release already in the works with Bassist, John Williams and Keyboardist, Al Gamble called A-440. Thanks for the tours, the records and the true friendship

Greg Norris Let's say you took David Gillmore, Steve Lukather and Frank Gambale and you dumped a truck load of Memphis's soulful Vibes all over them. That would be Greg Norris. Greg and I met during rehearsal's for Brian Howe's version of Bad Company with drummer Pete Mendillo and bassist Jeff Adams. That's gotta be one of the best Rock band's I've ever been in with those brothas. Ohhh yeah and you can believe that we'll all do a tour together soon, real soon. Greg's just finished working with me on Don's Bryant's forth coming album on a track titled "There's More"

Malcom Cullen Meet Malcom Cullen
Another one of the finest Guitar players in the world. My favorite memories of playing with Malcom aside from some incredible tours we've shared during Ann Peebles' '93-94 tours, were when he'd come over to this place drummer Loyd Black and I had and we'd play for what seemed like hours on all these cool Jazz arrangement's Malcom and I would dream up. He is the King of Substitue Chords. (check out the King Daddy and the Boogie Children Album). I'll always think greatly of you my brotha.

His Vocals and guitar playing both share the same depth, the same sincere soufulness and the same level of emotion as that of Eric Clapton or SRV. We met during my days of playing with King Daddy and the Boogie Children. What an awesome spirit to share the stage with.
Thanks for those days my Brotha

Skip Pitts
Meet Skip Pitts
Ever wonder who played the wah stuff on Isaac Hayes' Shaft? (this is funny) During the first couple of years as Ann's Band director, I called Skip about fifteen times to come play guitar and all fifteen times we couldn't afford him. I finally got a chance to see why during rehearsal's for Superstar Axelle Red's 1999 concert titled The Soul Of Axelle Red, where she had appearances from a lot of the legends from the Hi and Stax days including Wilson Pickett and Ann Peebles. One of the most awesome memories I have musically is Skip and I smiling over at each other on stage knowing how real and magical the Vibe was.
Love ya my Brotha

If Memphis only really knew. We'd been passing each other for years but it was April of '99 when we formally met. Maybe we had three rehearsals if that many and we were sharing the stage together with Survivor's Jimi Jamison. Over the course of that year, while Chris, drummer, Pete Mendillo and Jimi were back and forth from LA cutting Jimi Jamison's critically acclaimed album Empires, I went from playing Bass on Keys, to Keys, then ultimately Keys and bass. On the night of maybe the fifth or sixth Gig with just the three of us and Jimi, all this magic started happening. Between Chris, drummer Pete and myself, we were coming up with the kind of stuff out of body experiences are made of, and 'that people, is when I witnessed the real talent of this world class playing Brotha as it was unlocked, unleashed and steam rolling it's way from his soul, through his fingers and right into the audiences hearts. What a great pleasure it's been rocking Vibe's magical cradle with you my Brotha
