Steve Potts Meet my Brotha Steve Potts
Aside from playing on almost everything everything I've written or recorded in Memphis he's a great friend. We met and started recording together in 1987 during a time when I was renting a place above this studio in Memphis. In between his show's with The Blues Brothers and Booker T. and The MGs, we were in a band together with Guitarist Bobby Manual and Bassist, Dwayne Thomas called The Coolers and man those were some great and magical times! Steve's playing with Wynonna Jud now and doing tons of records as you can see from the link.
Miss playing with you my Brotha!
Paul

Howard 'Bulldog' Grimes Meet Howard "Bulldog" Grimes
Man this brother's played on so many hits. I had a chance to do some great records and tours with him.

Pete Close Meet Pete Mendillo
Deep down in the heart of a Delta town known as Memphis Tennessee. A Hit Factory to legends, Al Green, Elvis Presley, Z Z TOP, Ann Peebles and Isaac Hayes, brings forth yet another world class drummer since the days when drum legend Al Jackson ruled the city's musical scene. Meet Groove Master and drummer Pete Mendillo. This brotha carries the spirit of John Bohnam with his own spine chilling signiture. I met pete by chance just playing behind vocalist Rob Caudill. Next thing I knew I was right up under his foot on stage playing behind Jimi Jamison all across the country. Pete is now working with me on Soul legend Don Bryant's new record.

Hubert 'the H Bomb' Crawford Meet Hubert "the H Bomb" Crawford
Another slam the doors down drummer with enough funkiness to be considered Royality and enough Talent to go from being just another young inspiring drummer to playing for the Legendary funk group The Bar-Kays, then to the world reknown rock group "The Eric Gails Band" , James Brown and now behind lead singer/Guitarist Mark Farner of "Grand Funk Railroad and that's just in between all the other Artist's including Ann Peebles which is when we really got the chance to play together. What a great friend and an awesome foot to be under.

Rick Shelton Live Meet Rick Shelton.
Can go from unbelievable baddness to undeniable funkness in 0.1 measure. Met him during preproduction of The Motherstation record in 94'. Those sessions and the tour that followed remain as some of the greatest musical times of my life. His approach to drumming should be an inspiration to all musicians because the thing he does behind his kit serves up 180% of energy, meaning, Pocket and Purpose, a signicant purpose. Hope you get to catch his band Dust For Life Live and there debut release Seed.

James Robertson Meet James Robertson
He's not just one of the baddest drummer's on earth, This brotha's an institution, spreading a wealth of Pocket, groove's and beautiful vibes throughout the hundreds of tracks, festivals and the countless legends he's played with including superstar Axelle Red, Stax Legend's Rufis and Carla Thomas and the prestigious Poretta Sweet Soul Festival honoring Otis Redding. We met in '86 after I finally stopped trying to sing and focusing back on my playing. Oh yes, James and drummer Steve Potts were right behind me taking turns with bassist Dwayne Thomas and Guitarist, Nikos Lyras kicking me all up in my butt and sending me right through Pocket boot camp. Since those days we've done some amazing shows together. Thanks for the Vibes James
Your Brotha Paul

Loyd Black
Meet Loyd Black

Let me tell you a little story. There was a time back in '85 I think when my marrage was on the rocks, the Xavion tours had ended, my publishing deal ran out and I was on the verge of being talked into joining Fire school that I got a call to joing one of those cover bands that travel from hotel to hotel playing each one 1 to 2 weeks at a time. Yep, I took the next train out headed for Hammond. LA where I met the band called City Kids. Loyd was in that band and believe it or not, that year out on the road saved my life musically speaking. After the first two Gigs, Loyd and I were best friends and if Loyd didn't have me in the clubs well after they had closed showing me the art of Metric Modulation or coming up with some new arrangment, we were forever talking ourselves horse during drives about how we were going to put together a fusion Band called "Destroy All Monsters" someday and cut all the cool songs we were coming up with back then. Well, we made a good part of that dream happen and the songs we recorded turned out awesome. Although we never got to see a full length album through, we had some great shows together with Ann Peebles, King Daddy and the Boogie Children and our band "Destroy All Monsters".
Hope to finish that album someday my brotha.
Paul
